Best Elk Hunting East of the Mississippi

Kentucky Elk Tag

Since being introduced in 1997, elk have thrived in eastern Kentucky. High breeding and calf survival rates, the absence of predators, mild winters and abundant food sources support an expanding herd and elk which are on average 15% larger than elk found in western states.

1,000 permits will be issued for 2014 and hunters will have a choice of 5 areas to hunt in a 16 county region.

OMM will be guiding hunts exclusively on expansive privately-owned land representing some of the most desirable habitat. Contact us now to talk about application strategies. You are encouraged to apply for this hunt.

The lottery application period runs from January 1 to April 30, 2014.

Introduced in 1997 the herd has multiplied to over 10,000 animals.
